Shonali Devereaux
Shonali Devereaux is one of the UK's leading voices on business events, drawing on more than 30 years' experience in event delivery, organisational leadership, tourism and higher education. As Chief Executive of the Meetings Industry Association (MIA), she champions professional standards for the UK meetings industry, building on a career that has taken her from the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games to the Commonwealth Games, through leadership roles at The Health Hotel and British Heart Foundation, and vice chair of the Tourism Alliance.
That experience now shapes how Shonali gives back to the industry. As Head of Mentors at Fast Forward 15, she helps mentors and mentees apply their own industry knowledge to progress their careers, while her long-standing involvement with charity Meeting Needs, where she previously served as Director of Development, reflects a deeper commitment to the sector's wider community. She also co-founded the Diverse Speaker Bureau, championing diversity across championing diversity across platforms across the events industry.
Alongside her leadership, Shonali has inspired future event professionals as a lecturer in Events and Tourism at the University of Hertfordshire, while empowering peers as an emcee and facilitator across the industry.
