Roger Saul
Roger Saul is best known as the founder of Mulberry, the iconic British brand he launched in 1971 with just £500 and a vision for timeless, quality craftsmanship. Over three decades, he built Mulberry into a global name, celebrated for its leather goods, elegant style, and authentic British heritage. His creative vision extended far beyond fashion. Roger designed the interiors of Mulberry’s flagship stores, bringing a rich, tactile sense of British luxury into every detail — from leather-wrapped fittings to heritage-inspired décor. This flair for interiors continued with Charlton House, the boutique hotel and spa he created in Somerset, fully decked out in Mulberry Home furnishings. Guests would often ask to buy the curtains straight from the rooms and fitting areas - a testament to the immersive, aspirational world he had built.
Charlton House was awarded a Michelin star within its first year, setting a new standard for design-led hospitality. Roger later founded Kilver Court, a designer outlet destination that further showcased his lifestyle aesthetic and commitment to quality. While he no longer owns Kilver Court, it remains part of his legacy in curating spaces that bring luxury and authenticity together. Today, Roger runs Sharpham Park, an organic farm known previously for reviving British spelt and now producing British Organic Walnuts and championing sustainable regenerative farming. He is currently embarking on his own Grand Design - building a stylish, eco-conscious home in the Somerset countryside, blending innovation, sustainability and personal craftsmanship.
