Kai Parfitt
Sustainability has always been part of his life (his mum runs a hedgehog charity that he has spent many years volunteering at) but he has only been part of the industry for 18 months. With a nuanced background, working in HR at Sony and just under four years at Vodafone on their graduate scheme finishing in a commercial role, last April he ripped up the norm and took a chance to land a job that morally excited him, which translated as working at the Athenaeum Hotel as their ESG manager. Sustainability has never been so important and equally it has never been this complicated to navigate with confusing language, accreditation, and legislation. The bottom line: if you can reduce you will make an impact, if you reuse you will make an impact and if you just start on the journey, you will make an impact.
