Dee Gibson
Dee Gibson is a London based designer and founder of Kalukanda House, a boutique hotel in Sri Lanka listed in Conde Nast Best Places to Visit in Asia in 2024.
Kalukanda House is a design led destination in the luxury market which Dee built from the ground up in 2017, striving to operate a circular economy that is commercially viable and sustainable while supporting local communities. Being part of the transformative and regenerative design and travel movement, Dee’s focus is on using local design and story telling to inform traveller narratives on culture, mindset and modern Sri Lanka. Believing that environmental and spatial design are key to the experience and working with local experts offering indigenous healing practices and wellness focussed retreats, Dee’s hotel brings travellers and healers together. In a world where rising anxiety levels are driving a burgeoning fitness industry, Sri Lanka is becoming the world’s hottest wellbeing destination.
Dee is a regular speaker and panellist. In 2025, she was awarded “Woman Leader in Hospitality” at the International Women in Travel Forum and she was listed in ’23 Women to watch in Travel in 2023' by Travel Pulse. She is Chair of the Board of Trustees for Sri Lankan Charity Their Future Today.
