Tell us a little about Ruark Audio?
Ruark Audio is a family owned British company. We have been designing and manufacturing audio products since 1986. We started out producing loudspeaker systems for audio enthusiasts before we decided to change direction and move towards producing the premium lifestyle systems you see today. All of products are designed and engineered at our offices in Southend on Sea by our very small but passionate team. We supply both retail and the hospitality industry and our products can be found in the likes of John Lewis, Harrods and Selfridges as well as some of the country’s finest Hotels.
Tell us a little about your Hospitality work?
We have been supplying the hospitality industry with our award-winning products for several years. All the hotels we work with share the same goal and that is to offer their guest the most luxurious, memorable experience they can. We love to work with hotels both big and small and some of our clients include The Savoy London, Marriott Park Lane, Principal London, Cheval Residences and The Townhall Hotel.
What would you say hotels are looking for in a bedside radio?
Our most popular product with hotels is our R1. I think the reason for this is that it ticks all the boxes in terms of size, sound, design and features. Hoteliers are not just looking for a bedside radio anymore, their product of choice has to offer more and increasingly we are being asked for Bluetooth connectivity, the option to limit the volume output and USB charging. R1 offers all this in a compact stylish package that looks great in any hotel room.
Why do you think it’s important for hotels to spend money on good quality bedside radios?
Every hoteliers goal is for their hotel to offer its guest the best possible experience that they can. When it comes to creating the perfect room for your guests to enjoy every little detail counts. For me so many hotels overlook the bedside radio and just settle for the cheapest option they can. Ultimately it is these small details that are the difference between a good hotel room and a great hotel room. The bedside radio doesn’t need to be seen as just a piece of technology and our products become as much as piece of the overall design and décor of the room as the colour on the walls and linen on the bed.
Technology plays an important part of people’s lives today; do you think guests have come to expect access to the latest tech and gadgets?
We are all guilty of it, arriving at the hotel for your relaxing weekend away and the first thing you do is connect to the hotel Wi-Fi. Without a doubt guests expect all the technology comforts that they experience at home, whether that is fast Wi-Fi, a flat screen television or a good quality audio system. I think that there is a fine line between too much technology and not enough. I’ve stayed in hotels where even the lights and curtains are controlled by a tablet, for me this is too much. Technology needs to add to the experience and make guests more comfortable not confuse and frustrate.
