Sunborn International has secured planning permission to replace its existing Sunborn London yacht hotel with a new-build vessel at Royal Victoria Dock.
The approval, granted by the London Borough of Newham Council, also includes a permanent enhanced mooring position and marks a significant milestone in the company's international growth plans.
The new vessel will form part of Sunborn's Evolution Series and feature seven decks and 223 guest rooms and suites. According to the company, the development is designed to enhance capacity, operational efficiency and the overall guest experience through upgraded accommodation, expanded food and beverage facilities and contemporary public spaces.

The project follows the approval of rezoning plans for Sunborn's proposed hotel development in Vancouver earlier this year, which the company says supports the next phase of its international expansion.
Sustainability is a key focus of the new vessel, with plans including a pathway towards carbon-neutral operations and significantly improved energy efficiency compared with the existing yacht hotel.
"The planning approval for our new London yacht hotel marks a transformational step for Sunborn International and comes shortly after our significant achievement in Vancouver," said Hans Niemi, CEO of Sunborn International Plc.

"Together, these approvals provide a clear pathway for a substantial expansion of our hotel portfolio and reinforce our position as the global leader in floating hospitality. The Evolution Series vessels planned for London and Vancouver will set new standards for guest experience, sustainability and operational excellence, while supporting the next chapter of Sunborn's international growth plan."
Sunborn has operated yacht hotels adjacent to Excel London since 2003. The company currently owns yacht hotels in London and Gibraltar and is pursuing further development projects in London, Vancouver and other international markets.
Sunborn said it will now proceed with the next stages of the London project, including shipbuilding, financing and stakeholder engagement.
