Grantley Hall expands estate with acquisition of neighbouring 44-acre land portfolio

Grantley Hall has announced the acquisition of a neighbouring 44-acre mixed-use land and property portfolio, marking a significant milestone in the continued evolution of the award-winning luxury hotel.
The newly acquired land adjoins the hotel's existing estate near Ripon and will provide opportunities for future expansion, innovation and long-term sustainable growth. While no specific development plans have yet been announced, the acquisition creates greater flexibility for the business as it looks to further enhance the guest experience.
Opened as a luxury hotel in 2019 following the restoration of the historic Grade II*-listed country house, Grantley Hall has established itself as one of the UK's leading independent luxury hotels. In 2025, the property was recognised as Independent Hotel of the Year at the Independent Hotel Show Awards, which celebrate excellence, creativity and leadership across the UK's independent hospitality sector.
Richard Sykes, Managing Director of Grantley Hall, said: "Grantley Hall has always been defined by a sense of space, freedom and escape. A place where guests can experience something genuinely exceptional.
"This acquisition gives us the opportunity to think far more ambitiously about the future of the estate and how we continue to evolve the guest experience for generations to come.
"It creates the foundation for long-term growth, greater flexibility, and the ability to shape new experiences that strengthen Grantley Hall's position as a leading luxury destination."
In a post shared on LinkedIn, Grantley Hall General Manager Nuno César de Sá described the acquisition as "an exciting next chapter" for the business.
He wrote: "This investment is more than the acquisition of land; it is about strengthening our vision for the future, supporting innovation and continuing to showcase world-class hospitality.
"I am extremely proud to be part of a business that continues to invest, innovate and raise the bar. I look forward to seeing the plans take shape and watching this exciting project come to life."
Grantley Hall said the investment will help the estate continue to evolve while preserving the distinctive character and exceptional hospitality for which it has become known. Although plans for the newly acquired land remain under consideration, the expansion is expected to support the hotel's long-term vision of creating memorable guest experiences for generations to come.
