First recipients announced for UK & Ireland Michelin Keys
The Balmoral – Edinburgh, Scotland

The MICHELIN Guide has announced the first recipients of its new One, Two, and Three Key distinctions, recognising the most outstanding hotels across the United Kingdom and Ireland. This milestone is part of a four-year evolution of the Guide’s hotel selection, now spotlighting over 5,000 remarkable properties worldwide.

Each hotel in the MICHELIN Guide is meticulously evaluated by hotel experts and selected based on five critical categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for money, and the contribution to the guest experience within its unique setting. The introduction of the Key distinctions signals the highest standard in hospitality, akin to the prestigious Michelin Stars awarded to exceptional restaurants.

The 2024 MICHELIN Guide for Great Britain and Ireland honours 14 Three Key hotels, 37 Two Key hotels, and 72 One Key hotels. These properties represent the pinnacle of luxury, service, and distinctive guest experiences.

Among the highlights of the Three Key list are iconic hotels such as The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, Adare Manor in the Republic of Ireland, and The Savoy in London. These hotels, alongside other selected properties, showcase the exceptional diversity of luxury accommodations, from rural retreats in the English countryside to urban opulence in the heart of London.

London secures 44 Keys

London stands as a focal point in the MICHELIN Guide’s hotel selection, with 44 of its hotels receiving Key distinctions.

The city boasts eight Three Key hotels, including legendary names such as Claridge's, The Connaught, and The Bvlgari Hotel London. These properties offer a blend of historical elegance and modern luxury, making London a world-class destination for travelers seeking unparalleled hospitality.

Outside the capital, the MICHELIN Guide also highlights the unique charm of smaller towns and rural destinations. Hotels such as the Artist Residence Oxfordshire and The Swan Southwold offer one-of-a-kind experiences, often showcasing bold, irreverent designs and exceptional local character. The Republic of Ireland is home to several stately Key hotels, including Ballyfin Demesne and Dromoland Castle, renowned for their historic charm and countryside beauty.
