Nine rescued after blaze rips through London hotel

Firefighters had to rescue at least nine people after a blaze tore through a London hotel last night.

The fire broke out at the 22-bedroom Rushmore hotel in Trebovir Road in Earl's Court and four people were rescued from the property.

Another three were helped from a hotel next door and two from the roof of a neighbouring property.

Ten fire engineers and 72 firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze, which started at 9.45pm on Sunday, according to the London Evening Standard.

At one stage 100% of the second floor of the hotel, 20% of the third floor and 10% of the roof were alight according to the fire brigade.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and will be looked into by fire investigators.
